Why is camp treated like a luxury when it isn’t one?

Camp is a necessity. But it’s one that so many families simply cannot afford. They cover the costs of school tuition and everyday needs — but camp remains a lump in their throats.

A child stuck at home all summer without any friends? It’s unthinkable. Kids-n-Camp is here to make sure every single kid can get some sunshine and structure at the camp of their choosing. And it’s all thanks to you, giving summer to families who truly need it!

Kids keep their childhood. Parents keep their dignity.

Single-parent families, kids with special needs, families dealing with serious medical problems, or simply families struggling to make ends meet: There are so many reasons why people can’t afford camp.

Our small team of vetters carefully review each scholarship application with discretion, so families keep their dignity.

Where does my donation go?

Grateful families. Real letters.

Thank you for helping us make day camp an affordable possibility for our children. We are very touched by your help and generosity!
I know this letter is long overdue, but I just wanted to thank you very much

for the help you sent us for some of our kids for camp. You should always be on the giving end and only have happiness and nachas. Have a wonderful year!

Kids-n-Camp was instrumental in getting my kids the summer they needed to thrive throughout the year. It made all the difference and we can't thank them enough.

What kind of families apply for Kids-n-Camp scholarships?

From children with no parents or single-parent families, to large families, families with serious medical or other emergencies, or simply families struggling to make ends meet, there are so many reasons camp is a struggle.

What ages are eligible for a Kids-n-Camp scholarship?

Kids-n-Camp generally covers girls and boys aged 9-16, although we do cover younger children in circumstances where a summer experience is deemed necessary.

Is Kids-n-Camp only for sleepaway camp?

No — we cover both overnight camp and local day camps!

Is the scholarship recipient able to choose what camp to attend?

Absolutely! Kids-n-Camp never chooses the camp — that’s up to each child and their families. After all, our entire mission is to give kids the same experience as their peers, helping them keep their dignity.

What camps are covered by Kids-n-Camp?

Do you cover the full cost of camp for each child?

We aim to use your dollars wisely. After carefully vetting each family who applies, we’ll ask them to cover a portion they can afford, and work with camps to receive a discounted rate. This way, we’re able to stretch your donation to cover as many kids as possible, multiplying its power. Read more about that here.

Why can’t you just create a camp that isn’t so expensive?

Our mission at Kids-n-Camp is to help children from families who cannot afford the camp experience feel just like everyone else and experience a normal childhood. It’s a vital part of growing up. That’s why we created a scholarship program that allows kids to attend the same camp their school friends attend. No child deserves to feel "less than” their peers!

What is your verification and approval process?

Our scholarship approval process is rigorous yet discreet. A small team of vetters communicate with contacts provided on each scholarship request form to ascertain which families need help — and how much. Our board and team at large do not know which families are receiving assistance, maintaining each family’s dignity.

Do you have a board?

Yes, Kids-n-Camp has an oversight board that includes community leadership, donors, and rabbanim to guide our every step. You can view all board members here.
